Welcome to Andrés the Tutor
Hi, I'm Andrés. I'm dedicated to helping students achieve academic success and develop essential executive functioning skills.
I provide personalized, online support to help students build confidence, reduce stress, and earn better grades.
Meet Andrés
I’m a Cornell graduate with two master’s (in math education and writing), and I've been teaching / tutoring for twenty years. I’ve taught many age groups, from elementary school through college and beyond. And I’ve tutored many subjects, everything from algebra and college psychology to college-level English composition and standardized tests.
Outside of tutoring, I'm the chief instructor of an Aikido dojo in Philadelphia, and I enjoy hiking with my partner and three-year-old.
Education and Experience
Education
I majored in economics and psychology at Cornell. I got my master's in math education from Brooklyn College through the New York City Teaching Fellows. And I earned my master's in creative writing from The New School.
Teaching and Work Experience
I've been teaching, tutoring, and coaching for over twenty years—working with USA- and internationally-based students.
I've taught in a variety of schools, from math at a Brooklyn public high school to English at FIT. And I've worked with a number of private schools and companies, including Princeton Review, Bespoke Education, Manhattan Country School, and Bank Street School, to name a few.
In the business world, I've worked as a writer, publisher, consultant, and project manager. I started my own publishing company and published hundreds of writers and artists.
Outside of teaching and business, I train in Aikido and run a dojo in Philadelphia.
