Hi, I'm

I've been teaching and tutoring for twenty years, working with students across every age group -- from middle school through college and beyond. I started in the classroom as a high school math teacher in Bushwick, Brooklyn through the NYC Teaching Fellows program, where I taught 60-100 students a semester including special education and bilingual classes.
Since then I've tutored privately, worked with families through Bespoke Education, taught college-level writing at FIT, and run one-on-one programs at Fusion Academy. I've tutored everything from pre-algebra and college psychology to essay writing and standardized test prep. No two students are the same, so I figure out how each student learns and build around that.
I also speak fluent Spanish and have worked extensively with bilingual students and their families.
"A great teacher meets each individual student where they are and pushes from there."

More About Me
Outside of tutoring, I'm the founder and chief instructor of Lemon Hill Aikido, a martial arts dojo in Philadelphia where I hold a fourth-degree black belt. I also co-founded a nonprofit publisher and ran my own small press, Toho Publishing, where we published over 20 books and hundreds of writers.
I'm a published author, a Pushcart Prize nominee, and I've been writing fiction for over fifteen years. When I'm not teaching or writing, I'm usually hiking with my partner and our three-year-old.
